New Infusion Services in Centre County

People need infusion services to treat many different chronic illnesses as well as for cancer therapy — and now with the opening of Penn Highlands State College, Centre County has more access to care.

Penn Highlands State College offers the Hahne Cancer Infusion Center, which in addition to cancer infusion therapies offers a host of infusion therapies.

“There are multiple reasons why a physician may order infusion therapy such as from the need for long-term antibiotics to blood transfusions,” said James V. Lieb, DO, a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist at Penn Highlands Oncology/Hematology. “IV infusion allows for controlled dosing and places medications, blood or fluid directly into the bloodstream making the treatment faster and more powerful.”

There are also varying types of infusions including:

  • Blood and platelet transfusions
  • Antibiotics/medications
  • Injections
  • Central line dressing changes
  • Central line and implanted port lab collections
  • PICC line insertions
