Dr. Rao Joins The Lung Center
Penn Highlands Healthcare is pleased to welcome pulmonologist and critical care specialist, Rajesh S. K. Rao, MD, to the staff of The Lung Center. Rao is board certified in pulmonology, sleep medicine, critical care medicine and internal medicine.
Rao will see patients along-side Sandeep Bansal, MD, at four of The Lung Center locations, inside Penn Highlands DuBois West, 100 Hospital Avenue, DuBois; Penn Highlands Clearfield Medical Arts Building, 807 Turnpike Avenue, Clearfield; Punxsutawney Community Medical Building, 551 W. Mahoning Street, Punxsutawney; and St. Marys Community Medical Building, 1100 Million Dollar Highway, St. Marys.
Rao earned his medical degree from the Karnataka University, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Nehrunagar, India. He completed a residency at Grant Medical College and Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals in Bombay, India where he was also chief resident in the Department of Medicine. He also completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Sisters of Charity Hospital/University of Buffalo Graduate Medical and Dental Consortium in Buffalo, NY. He served as the chief resident in the Department of Medicine at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center at Buffalo. He also completed a fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at State University of New York at Buffalo.
Rao is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
As a physician boarded in four specialties, Rao has extensive experience in pulmonary procedures, including interventional and advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy. Interests also include interstitial lung diseases, COPD and sleep medicine.
